Similan & Surin diving day trip

The Similan Islands are rated as one of the Top 10 Dive Destinations in the world. That’s what the internet says, and the internet never lies.

For years, the Similans were only accessible to certified scuba divers via liveaboards due to the distance but that’s now changed. Liveaboards are big boats where you sleep and dive and sleep and dive. It’s a wicked experience but requires time and extra money.

The team in Khao Lak now offers Similans scuba diving day trips to the best sites for those who would rather sleep back in their hotel room after a day of incredible diving or maybe because you don’t want to spend all that pad thai money on a liveaboard.

The daily schedule allows you to see the best Similans dive sites including the world famous Richelieu Rock with trips going 3 times a week.

You’ll start the day with hotel pick-up from your place in Khao Lak and head to the Khao Lak dive center where the team will give everyone a briefing on the days activities and get the boring paperwork out of the way.

You’ll head to the pier in the north and board the speedboat which will go zoom zoom super fast and take you to the dive sites in roughly 60-80 minutes depending on the conditions.

Just because it’s a speedboat doesn’t mean you won’t be comfortable. There are shaded areas and a nice sun deck on the front if you want to ride the waves (fun fact: the boat is called Wave Rider) The Similans scuba day trips have limit’s on the number of people that go out so that you’ll have lots of space.

The speedboat has been purpose built from top to bottom with scuba divers in mind.

You’ll spend the day doing 2 dives at incredible spots in the Similan Islands and Surin National Park. You’ll also enjoy a beautiful Thai buffet lunch to get that energy back up between dives.

Once you’re done, you’ll be back in Khao Lak at your hotel ready for a drink in your hand as you watch the sunset.
