THIALAND travel info

VISA

60 day visa-on-arrival is available for most countries. You can also apply for longer visa’s online. Visa’s can be extended 30 days.

SIM CARD

Many sim card brands available including True/DTAC & AIS. Great connectivity throughout the country.

PLUGS

220V plugs that fit either two two flat connectors or the round ones. You’ll need an adapter for UK plugs.

LANGUAGE & MONEY

The native language spoken is Thai and the money is the Thai Baht. ATMS are readily available everywhere.

WEATHER IN THAILAND

Thailand has three different general seasons but the rain can vary depending on the region. Hot season goes from March to May while cool season is November to February. 

It is important to keep in mind that every year is different with all the bad things we are doing to the environment. Don’t look at me, I recycle!

Weather forecasts don’t really mean much and so things can be hard to predict either way, good or bad!

REGIONAL WEATHER

The seasons occur as above with rainy season being during May to October.

Only the two seasons with dry seasons being November to May and monsoon bringing in heavy storms from April to October.

Only the two seasons with dry season being January to August and heavy rainfall occurring between September and December.

Thailand offers a very generous 30 day visa on arrival for most countries. Other countries can apply online for an evisa or get the visa upon landing. 

Thailand is considered very safe and very tourist friendly. There can be some parts in the south near the border or also on the border with Myanmar that can be dangerous but there is no reason to visit these places as a tourist.

Really depends on where you are but it is cheaper compared to western places. End of the day, it’s also going to be all about how you travel. You can do it very expensive and choose fancy restaurants and hotels or you can choose street food and budget guesthouses. 

Credit card acceptance is very high in the major cities and on islands you may have to sometimes pay a surcharge of 3-5%. ATM’s are readily available everywhere.
